Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

My steps aren't counting. Check that Jericho has permission to read steps in Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). Steps sync from your health store in batches, so a walk can take a few minutes to show up.

I walk with a watch or band and my steps show up late. Jericho reads steps from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android), so a band's steps count once its app has passed them there. Some band apps do that through another app, such as Google Fit, and only when that app syncs. If a walk with just your band is missing, open the band's app, then the app it syncs through, and let them sync; then open Jericho. Nothing is lost by the wait: the steps are credited to the day you walked them. On Android it can help to let those apps run in the background (Settings, then Apps, then the app, then Battery, then Unrestricted).

I didn't open the app for a day or two. Your steps still count. Each time you open Jericho it credits today, yesterday and the day before, so nothing is missed as long as you open it at least once every three days. A day older than that is no longer credited.

I have a new phone. Sign in with the same Google or Apple account and your hero comes back from your account.

Why do steps stop counting at 30,000 a day? 30,000 steps is about 22 km: a genuinely big day, and the most Jericho will ever ask you to walk. We stop counting there on purpose, so the game never rewards pushing yourself too hard, and so guilds, wars and friends' boards stay fair. Keep walking if you like; it just won't count toward the game.

Can't people just fake their steps? Some could try, and no app can stop that completely. But the steps are the point: Jericho exists to get you moving, and your hero is a picture of your walk. Faking steps doesn't beat the game; it only cheats you out of the walk.

Who can see my steps? Only players you agreed to share them with, in the step-sharing sheet. You can switch sharing off in Options.
